The Future We Will See

*****

I want
Everybody smiling
Not just me
And not just you
Not just him
Or them
Or they

I want
Everybody smiling
Not a little
So to say
Just a part
Of any
Day

I want
Everybody smiling
Wake up smiling,
Smiling keep
Day’s appointments,
Smiling
Sleep

I want
Everybody smiling
Nor do I see
Why it can’t be
Our
Everyday
Reality

I see lots of
Dedication
To misery
In our relations
Causing
One another
Harm

If we were
To make it ‘cool’
Every single
Eejit fool
Would suddenly
Find self
To be

More generous
More calm and kind,
More inclined
To blame be blind,
A better man
Than
He began

That’s how
Incrementally
We can all come
To smiling be —
You know this
Intui-
Tively

I want
Everybody smiling
Choose to jump
To that timeline
Where everybody’s
Doing
Fine

And if
Enough will jump with me
Then will it
Inevitably
Become the future
We’ll all
See
