Day Over

*****

I try not to waste my time
Our beautiful planet on
Try to focus energy
Affirmative effort upon

Gratitude I diligently
And sincerely exercise
Every blessing in this life
Individually prize

Once in every while, however,
Comes along a day
Try as might, I cannot ever
Make those methods pay

Heart all lost in solitude
Mind quiescent, dumb
Spirit wanders in the wind
Body aching, weak and numb

No amount of discipline
Cover will the sadness of
Giving out and giving out
But not receiving love

Visualizing yet again
Sunshine, smiles and clover
Doesn’t help, and I am glad
This gloomy day is over
