Who were they before they were “homeless”?
How val’uable might they have been?
In those you now grant majeste lese
Might then you have more value seen?

Might, then, you have taken the trouble
To serve the wine and canapé,
Producing upon the quick double
Any preference they might say?

Might, then, your dismissive demeanor
Have taken a more polite cast?
How altered have been your behavior
To them, only a few years past?

If your answer true to this question
Allows any doubt to remain
Of your identical intention
To privilege, just as to pain,

Then you do not act in respectful,
Or any honorable, vein —
Though this truth’s indeed most regretful —
Your base motivation was gain
