People at Whom I Smile

*****

The diminutive
The dusky
The dramatic
The dreary
The dubious
The delighted
The diverse
The destitute

The ordinary
The extraordinary
The “beneath our notice”

The wearers of uniforms
Drivers of trucks
Cookers of meals
Cleaners of toilets

The aging
The infirm
The immigrant
The impoverished

And to the blind
As I pass
I say a cheerful hello

Among us, poets are not paid. The poet/editor of this website, being physically disabled, lives at a fraction of her nation’s poverty level. Become a patron of the fine arts at: https://www.gofundme.com/are-you-a-patron-of-the-arts
