Actually Act

Won’t it be a big relief
When the poet’s gone
We’re free to dwell — won’t it be swell? —
Unimportances upon

Free to bite each other’s backs
And then be bitten back
With no one pointing out
There never need have been attack

We’ll return to watching
Our sitcoms and our gore
Undisturbed and uninspired
By what is lofty any more

Then wonder why we cannot
Seem to excellence attract
It’s in the way, when in its presence
Actually act
