To the Power Behind the Throne

Although I didn’t subject myself
To swelling tirade
For very long

I did gather
I’m tasked with having done damage
To someone else’s card table

I damaged nothing

My actions were as follows

I placed two household pans upon the table
Along with a number of dirty dishes
They were filled with filthy water and congealing food debris

The water and the debris got on the table
Some of it got on the floor

Passing by later I noticed
One of the pots had shifted
Knocking a shot glass to the floor

The shot glass did break

At no time was the table damaged

That is the truth
The whole truth
And nothing but

The truth.
